Musical Baton

I’ve been passed the “musical baton” meme by Dori. My responses are:

Total volume of music files on my computer: my iTunes folder is 2.14 Gb with 647 songs. Some of those are audiobooks, though, so I’m not sure how they count. That includes some drama and poetry, and the total is about half what it was before I needed more space on my 20 GB drive to install Tiger.

Last CD bought: According to Amazon, it was Fade to Bluegrass: A Tribute to Metallica, as a present for The Spouse last December. Yes, that’s right, Bluegrass Metallica. We’ve been buying from iTunes instead of buying CDs. OK, mostly he’s been buying from iTunes, and then I use the Authorize feature of iTunes to play his purchased songs on my computer and iPod. (You can play songs from up to five iTunes accounts on your iPod) or authorize five computers.)

Song playing: nothing right now; the iPod is charging though.

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me (mostly that I listen to a lot):

  • Tam Lin by Fairport Convention (Dissertation related).
  • Orfeo by Archie Fisher (Dissertation related)
  • Thomas the Rhymer by Steeleye Span
  • (Dissertation related)

  • Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes by Paul Simon
  • If I had $1,000,000 by Barenaked Ladies

Five people to whom I’m passing this baton:

  • The Spouse (obviously)
  • iPaulo
  • PeteOfTheStreet, because he doesn’t blog often enough, and I’ve found new music because of him
  • Kip, because he introduced me to The Decemberists, and he’s too quiet.
  • Ancrene Wiseass, because she’s a fellow sufferer, and I know she listens to music
